You Can Dine Next To Lions And Bathe Next To Bears In This Amazing Australian Hotel

At Jamala Wildlife Lodge, the animals watch you in your habitat.

Situated in the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra, Australia, the new hotel offers guests a thrilling experience where you can get up close and personal with the zoo’s numerous animals. All that separates you is a millimeter-thin glass wall, so it’s almost as though you are sharing a room with these animals, including Bengal tigers, European brown bears, Malayan sun bears, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, black and white colobus monkeys, ring-tailed lemurs, hyenas, and snow leopards.

Feed giraffes from your balcony at the Giraffe Treehouses.

The suites of the hotel are cleverly incorporated into the enclosures of many of the zoo’s animals. For example, the six suites that make up the treehouses are nestled in a lush giraffe enclosure. These treehouses are perched higher than the regular suites, so guests get the opportunity to feed Hummer, the resident friendly giraffe.

Sleep next to sharks swimming in the tanks around you.

The seven suites in the uShaka Lodge (uShaka is the Zulu word for shark) offer full view of the 52,000 gallon tank filled with Australian sharks and access to a top terrace packed with “inquisitive monkeys.” The suites are attached the aquarium part of the zoo, and have beautiful views of the lake nearby.
