This Is The Coolest Grown-Up Playground You’ll Ever See

Ever visited a children’s playground and lamented that there isn’t anything for adults to enjoy? Head down to the City Museum in St. Louis, Missouri, possibly the best playground for grown-ups in the world.

Transformed from a former shoe factory, the gigantic playground boasts towering 10-story slides, ball pits, underground caves, tunnels, a rooftop ferris wheel, a school bus, a fully functional bar made from marble, an aquarium filled with sharks, rays, sea turtles, snakes and alligators, a skatepark, a circus area, and even two abandoned airplanes. The materials used to build the 600,000 square foot museum include old bridges, chimneys, construction cranes, and miles of recycled construction materials and other objects found from the city.

The museum is the brainchild of artist and sculptor Bob Cassilly who opened the space in 1997 after years of renovation and construction. Although Cassilly passed away in 2011, the museum is a constant work in progress with new features and improvements added by a group of artists called the Cassilly Crew.

One for the bucket list.
