Whenever you ask for a drink “on the rocks”, you usually don’t expect tiny ice sculptures floating in your glass.
In an award-winning campaign for Suntory Whisky, creative agency TBWA\Hakuhodo used a CNC milling machine and a process that’s kind of inverse 3D printing to carve and whittle the most amazing ice cubes we’ve ever seen.
To prevent the cubes from melting, the machine was chilled to a temperature of -7 degrees Celsius (about 19 Fahrenheit), and each cube took between 1-6 hours to complete. The designs ranged from the Statue of Liberty to the Sphinx to Batman and everything in between.
