If you have lived in or visited a heavily populated city, you will have come across dense areas where buildings are close to one another. The space can sometimes feel claustrophobic with the sky limited in all directions, but the strange geometric gaps formed by the surrounding architecture are often fun to photograph.
In an ongoing series entitled Sky Art, French artist Thomas Lamadieu finds inspiration within the narrow confines of rooftops and tiny slices of sky. Using a camera with fisheye lens and the sky as his canvas, he fills his photographs with illustrations that incorporate the sky’s natural colour.
Here are 18 whimsical illustrations that resulted from this artist’s imagination.
